External Events
Last Year we held two organised Brewery trips - The Wye Valley Brewery and the Wickwar Brewery. Although difficult to organise and co-ordinate, they were very good fun and something we hope to do again in 2011.
We are currently considering trips to Penderyn Distillery in Brecon and the Weston Cider Press in Much Marcle, so keep an eye open for further details.
Tug o' War
We hold an annual Tug of War Challenge against The Rose in Redwick. The next event will be in May so if you fancy joining us please pop in and add your name to the squad.
Internal events
Pub Quiz
CJ no longer hosts our quizzes, but he did pop in and take part last week (and won! but only by 1 point...)The quizzes still take place every wednesday at 8.30pm Entry is free and there must be a maximum of 5 members per team. We use the ol format which everyone loves, but alternate the quizmasters which makes it more interesting and less predictable.
Gourmet Nights
We held our first Gourmet Evening in February 2010 and they have gone from strength to strength with bookings now being taken and filled well in advance. The format is fairly formal, but they are very relaxed evenings and a great opportunity to meet and chat with other locals and regulars from Magor. The menu consists of 7 courses:
Starter - Choice of 2
Fish Course
Palate Cleanser - Sorbet
Main Course - Choice of 2
Dessert - Choice of 2
Cheese & Biscuits
Teas & Coffeees
Wines are included throughout the meal and the meal is accompanied with a talk about the provenance of the ingredients used and the cooking techniques used.
The next Gourmet Night is on Thursday 17th March (St Patrick's Day)
Comedy Club
Look out for details of our regular comedy nights
Real Ale Festival
Our first Real Ale Festival is taking place between Friday 29th April & Monday 2nd May. We will have a further 12 Real Ales & Ciders on top of our usual 4 Real Ales and regular live music and entertainment throughout the weekend.
Private Events
Since being decorated last year, our Function room's diary has steadily filled and has already been used for a whole array of events and parties. These include meetings of the local Allotment Society; rehearsal sessions for the local "Magor Players" Am Dram Soc. and a wonderful Christmas Wedding reception - not to mention a number of birthday and anniversary parties. If you would like to take a look at the facilities or book the room for your event, class or training session, please call for details.
We provide a wide range of services and food options for parties and events.
We regret we cannot host childrens' parties or 18th Birthday parties.
