Welcome to The Golden Lion
The Golden Lion is a traditional village pub and restaurant situated in the heart of Magor, Monmouthshire, midway between Newport and Chepstow. We are situated in the Village Square and as such, play an important role in the life of the village and its inhabitants. The Square is also home to St Mary's Parish Church, the Baptist Chapel, The Post Office, Chemist, Florist, Charity Shop and a selection of Take-Away Restaurants and Estate Agents.
The Golden Lion has recently been taken over the The Crown Hotels & Restaurants Group.
The Golden Lion is a classic old village pub dating to (c)1600. There are very few records available shedding light on its true history, but as it is returned to its former glory it is hoped that more details will be unearthed.
The proximity of Magor to the M4, makes it an ideal "stop off" on a long journey, especially for those travellers looking for a little more quality and comfort than a motorway services can offer.
